Give your customers what they want!
The longer you are in business the easier it is to lose track of what your customers want. Don’t get me wrong, I am guilty too.
It happens because there are SO many things that you want your customers to know or to do as it relates to your products or services. After all, you have products to sell, events to fill, services and contracts to provide. I get it. The truth is that without your customers you wouldn’t be in business.
I see this one-sided communication all over social media. You spend most of your bandwidth promoting or selling something and forget to share the valuable content they really want. I’m guilty too, when I have a course or my wine trip to Portugal to fill.
Here is what I always encourage my clients to do - continue to sprinkle in valuable information that your customers will find helpful especially when you are promoting something.
To change your perspective on how to talk about what you offer try this – ask what do my customers really want? Why do they buy from YOU?
For a winery, in addition to talking about your wines, flavor profiles, reviews, terroir, or wine scores you could talk about food pairings and recipes that would complement the wine. {And if you have a different business model, you can apply these ideas to your business}.
By changing this one thing, it can transform the focus, energy, and tone of what is shared.
Have you ever been unable to hear someone’s message because of the tone in which it was delivered? I know I have. It may have a valid message or point but if the way they delivered it was pushy, it won’t resonate with their customers.
Don’t get me wrong, wine is the star of the show, but it isn’t the only thing you have to talk about.
Here are some additional things you could share (for other business types these will work for you too).
Behind the Scenes of wine making, vineyard or preparing for club events.
Your Team or winery cat or dog. Who doesn’t love seeing your winery fur-baby in action?
Share the Experience you offer….
When your customers visit your tasting room or business – what will it be like for them? What amenities do you offer?
When they attend one of your events – what can they do, experience, or have?
When they belong to your wine club or membership – many people belong to multiple wine clubs. What makes yours special?
Paint the picture for them so they can picture themselves there.
Be sure to check out my video below for more about WHY sharing the experience is SO IMPORTANT.
