The secret to Social Media Consistency

So, you have decided that now is THE time to finally BE consistent posting to social media.

Where do you even start? Social media can be so overwhelming, and every “expert” differs on what you SHOULD be doing. The more people you listen to the more discouraging it can become as your list of SHOULD DO activities grows.

Being consistent on social media starts with a PLAN and it doesn’t have to be complicated OR time consuming. I like to make things EASY and manageable for my clients so that they can be successful posting consistently.

Let’s make it easy, shall we?!

Start here - How often are you posting now? 1 day or less per week? Great, see if you can post 2 x per week consistently for 30 days. If you are already posting 2 x per week, go for 3. If you are at 3, try 4.

Your ultimate goal might be 5 x per week but take baby steps to work up to your big goal. Remember the fable of the tortoise and the rabbit? Slower consistent progress is what will yield results over time.

Choose regular days each week to post that are easy to remember – Tuesday, Thursday or Monday, Wednesday, Friday for example. Sharing more often keeps you “Top of Mind” with your audience.

Schedule a time each week to work on your social media. It can be as little as 20 minutes. Plan out what you will share – image, description, and hashtags.

Make it compelling – tell a story, share a client win, give a tip that is easy to implement. Let your audience get to know you and build trust with them. Always giving BEFORE selling anything!

Keep it up for 30 days – they say it takes 30 days to create a new HABIT. I think it is longer. The point is to train yourself to add something new to your habits so it becomes automatic.

Reward yourself – Each time you post on a consistent basis do something to reward yourself. It can be small – some chocolate, a walk with your bestie, ice cream or glass of wine. At the end of each week have a bigger reward. Most of us are motivated by rewards. At the end of 30 days do something really special for yourself!

Oh-Oh! Most of us start something new with the best of intentions and with a lot of enthusiasm. What do you do when you forget, something comes up, or you get distracted? It is easy to become discouraged and just give up. Don’t do it! Check out my video below for some tips to not let distractions derail you!
